About the Family Warming Center

The Adullam Family Warming Center was born out of a deep conviction and a simple but urgent observation: in the heart of Milwaukee’s inner city, there was nowhere families could stay together when faced with homelessness during the bitter cold of winter. Most shelters required fathers, mothers, and children to split up into different facilities. We believed this was not only inhumane, but also a denial of dignity at one of life’s most vulnerable moments—being homeless in freezing weather.

In the winter of 2016, we opened the Family Warming Center in faith, with very little and almost no resources. At that time, there were only two small rooms available, but we made space for families in need. They slept on cots at first, but those early efforts set the foundation for what the center would become. Today, we are blessed to have seven dedicated rooms and overflow space, creating room for many more families to stay warm and safe together.

In the summer of 2025, we took a major step forward by building custom bunkbeds to maximize space and create a more comfortable, dignified environment for our guests. What began with cots has now grown into warm, welcoming rooms that offer families stability while they navigate their next steps.

But the Family Warming Center is more than a temporary shelter—it’s a bridge to new opportunities. Alongside a safe night’s sleep, we connect families with resources to find permanent housing, job opportunities, and a pathway to stability. Over the years, we’ve even had the privilege of employing and housing several families ourselves who once came through our doors.

At Adullam Outreach, these bunkbeds are more than just furniture—they represent comfort, stability, and dignity. They remind each guest that they are valued, cared for, and not alone. These spaces foster belonging and connection, creating an environment where families can rest, heal, and build hope for the future. With a good night’s sleep behind them, parents and children alike can face the day with strength, focus, and the belief that brighter days are ahead.

“At Adullam Outreach, a bunkbed is more than a place to sleep—it’s a place of love and action where people can rest, heal, and discover hope for brighter days ahead.”
