Reviving a Block on the 30th Street Industrial Corridor

In 2010, Adullam Outreach moved into a 25,000-sq-ft warehouse at 3033 N 30th St, Milwaukee, WI—a building that was completely empty, vandalized, and without heat or electricity. What began as a rental for our programs quickly became an ongoing construction project as we rebuilt the facility while launching community services. Several years later, we purchased the property and doubled down on a simple vision: restore a building, then help restore the block.

The 30th Street Industrial Corridor is unique—commercial buildings on one side, residential homes on the other. That mix has shaped our approach. From day one we built relationships with neighbors and nearby property owners, many facing disinvestment: abandoned homes, vacant lots, and inactive commercial spaces—some severely damaged. As trust grew, collaboration followed.

Over the past 16 years, we’ve coordinated the purchase of seven homes directly across the street and supported improvements that brought families back into safe, stable housing. We also helped adjacent commercial properties to the south transition to new, active ownership—replacing blight with businesses and daily foot traffic. The result is a safer, more connected streetscape where people know each other and look out for one another.

Adullam has been a catalyst for entrepreneurship on the block. We opened our facility to launch Custom Cottage, a local furniture maker; we built the woodshop in faith, and today it’s a thriving small business. Next door, we helped a long-shuttered auto repair shop (closed since 1980) reopen and serve the neighborhood with quality, affordable service. Across the street, we supported home-based enterprises, including two group homes and a daycare, adding both income and stability for residents.

What was once a broken, incohesive stretch is becoming a functioning ecosystem of homes and businesses. The momentum is real: vacant properties are activating, families are returning, and investors are taking notice. Our goal now is to expand this model up and down the Corridor—restoring more properties, growing resident-owned businesses, and creating a block where dignity, safety, and opportunity are the norm.

Partner with us: whether you’re a property owner, investor, tradesperson, or neighbor with a heart to help, we’d love to connect and keep building together.
